Day 15 - Monday 8/12/13 Reno, NV - Napa, CA (258 miles)

We took off west out of Reno this morning and headed for Cal-I-for-nI-A via the Truckee Valley and Donner Pass just north of Lake Tahoe at 7,200 ft. elevation; a very pretty welcome to the state.  We also drove through the Sacramento River Valley, passing so many peach orchards.

Arbor Guest House B&B
What small room?...
We found a nice B&B in Napa, Arbor Guest House B&B, which was our ONLY pre-departure reservation because this whole region was almost completely booked a month before we left on our trip.  The room was very small, but they included a bottle of Mumm sparkling wine to make us forget that I suppose....  Nonetheless, it was a good home base for the next three days of wine country explorations.

Salmon Rillettes - OMG Good!
Bouchon Bistro
On our quest to not miss a good bistro, we dined at Bouchon Bistro in Yountville, just north of Napa.  We shared salmon rillettes, smoked and fresh salmon "preserved" in butter, which absolutely melted in our mouths.  Rick ordered the trout almandine with hericort verts and I had the roasted chicken with red rice, pickled eggplant, mushrooms and jus.  Washed down with a bottle of Bordeaux, it was just yummy!  Back to the inn for a good night's sleep to ready ourselves for a day of wine tasting tomorrow.
